Silent rooms are an important tool for our research on acoustics, but making sound come and go is not its true construction goal. Its focus is to create a building that is similar to a free field space for engineers to study and test the acoustic characteristics of equipment. So, what are the requirements for creating a silent room environment?
Environmental requirements for creating a silent room:
1. A mute room is one of the acoustic testing equipment, and its acoustic performance indicators directly affect the accuracy of the test. Therefore, in addition to meeting the requirements of a free field, a mute room also requires a lower background noise;
2. Certain isolation measures need to be taken between the silent room and the foundation;
3. The interface sound absorption coefficient is required to be greater than 0.99 in order to meet the requirement of a sound field deviation of less than ± 10% over a sufficiently large testing distance;
4. For sound absorption structures that require a sound absorption coefficient of ≥ 0.99, a wedge shape is generally used;
5. The architectural design of a general silent room hardly requires the shape of a ball, column, or arc surface. Because if the sound absorption coefficient of the sound absorbing structure is completely greater than 0.99, the influence of the shell shape is not significant.
